Masau River Camp is a self-catering camp on the Lower Zambezi. We offer various self-catering accomodation options to suit different needs.
The camp comprises 3 chalets, 1 cottage and 2 safari tents.
TENTED CHALETS:
All chalets are equipped with a kitchen with stove and fridge/freezer and basic necessities. It also has an en-suite bathroom with shower. They have their own eating area. Each chalet can accommodate a maximum of 2 adults + 2 children OR 3 adults. There is access to a pool with a great view of the Zambezi River.
FAMILY COTTAGE:
The cottage is equipped with a kitchen with stove and fridge/freezer and basic necessities.
It has 3 bedrooms (2 rooms with a double bed & 1 room with 2 bunks (sleeping 4), a lounge/sitting area, 2 bathrooms, and can accommodate a maximum of 8 people comfortably. It has its own outdoor cooking facilities, and eating area and has its own small pool.
SAFARI TENTS:
The two safari tents are ensuite and have an outdoor braii area. They can accommodate a maximum of 2 adults each, or 2 adults and a child.
WHAT TO BRING:
The camp is self-catering so you will need to bring your own food, drinking water, as well as all beverages, pool towels and toiletries.
Please bring your own ice. We have freezer and fridge space in all chalets and the cottage. We recommend bringing mosquito repellent since we are in a high mosquito area and a torch/solar light for the occassional power outage.
WHAT IS PROVIDED:
Bathroom towels, toilet paper, dish towels, dish soap & sponges, bedding, cutlery, crockery and all cooking utensils are provided.
CAMP RULES:
Masau offers a family friendly environment in respect of nature and other guests. Because of this we expect guests to not make noise between 20h30 and 08h30. No parties and late evenings are allowed if they mean disturbing other guests. Should you want to have a late and loud night please consider booking the whole camp or your party will be interrupted by staff in respect of other guests.
DIRECTIONS:
The camp is located within 35 minutes downstream from the Chiawa Bridge.
This sign is on the main road 11km past Kiambi. Enter this dirt track and take the second left following the signpost. The track will take you straight into camp.

ACTIVITES:
Safety: please remember that we are in a Game Management Area and we do have wild animals around, especially elephants and crocodiles, so please be cautious and avoid wondering around after dark. The guard can assist you reach the farthest safari tents when retiring for bed.
It is also very important to note that it is NOT safe to dangle your feet or allow children to play in or next to the Zambezi River. The River is full of crocodiles and hippos and is not safe to leave children unsupervised.

Please note that Check in is from 14h00 and Check out is by 10h00.
POOLS:
Please note that we do our best to keep our swimming pools clean and blue at all times, but occasionally due to the rain, using river water in our pools, and occasional power outages, at times our pools might be green for short periods. We appreciate your understanding and are always working on making our guest experience as good as possible.
